As announced a few days ago, Half Life can now run on Pandora with the help of the Xash3D engine. It’s fantastic that allows the user to use Half Life data and run the game on a target that was not possible until now. And it runs great (at least on my Pandora 1Ghz, you mileage may vary a little on a CC or Rebirth). Here’s a quick look at this great game and how to get it running with PtitSeb’s port – not all was as easy as pie this time around.

C4A Compo Late-April Results
I have had a lot of fun with C4A this month. Not only did I significantly improve my scores on Mr Rescue, but they were repeatedly crushed by the other competitors. So I get this sour-sweet feeling of having made huge progress, yet for nothing! But hey, even Matti lost ground in this month, so I guess the competition has REALLY heated up.
Half Life Running on Pandora!
Many folks have tried throughout the years to make Half Life run in one way or another on the Pandora (mostly via Qemu, with limited success since it was too slow). Half Life is just the kind of game that should run just fine on Pandora based on the specs alone, but simply won’t because it’s closed source and therefore not easily portable. Now, a new opportunity just arrived, with a recreation of the Half Life Engine with Xash3D.

I first read about the Pandora at a time when I was doing a lot of traveling. I didn’t have a need for a personal laptop, since I had access to some provided by my employer for work related tasks. There Will Be No Aluminium Cases
At least for the Pandora. The project started by one of the community member in the course of last year, after the Pandora CAD designs were released to the public, did not come to fruition. An announcement earlier today put an end to a project that did not show much movement at all since it was announced.

The DragonBox Pyra is Nearing Completion
The successor of the Open Pandora is on its way to be complete and hopefully ready to preorder within 2015. Michael (aka Evil Dragon in the community) has just released a new video showcasing the current status of the design, and as expected many elements are now complete or very close to be.
