I have adjusted the timing of this update again, since last week there was not much to talk about. Just yesterday there was a bunch of repo updates, so I thought this second week since the last update was a good time to come back on the recent activity. Note that I have not been super active on PandoraLive recently because I’m working on something I will share with you guys soon…

Tokyo Games Show 2014, Overall Impressions
I’m finally back from the show, and while there was nothing really unexpected I somewhat enjoyed it more than the previous edition. Let’s have a look at what’s new in the world of video games, seen from a Japanese perspective.

Weekly Software News September 1st to 14th 2014
I missed last week’s update, because there was not much new at the time, to be honest, so I have decided to skip a week altogether. Now, thanks to PtitSeb and many others, there was a lot more activity in the second week and therefore you get a more sizable amount of updates!

What You Guys Liked in August 2014
August, done! Another month bites the dust! This was a shitty month in Japan though, lots of rain, a couple of typhoons leading to the cancellation of a number of summer festivals (bugger) while I still had the chance to see the Awa Odori festival in Tokushima, which was a great as ever (see pic). It was a little bit quiet on the Pandora scene, probably because of vacations, by the Pyra was presented at the GamesCom in Germany and attracted many people.
Weekly Software News August 25th to 31st 2014
August is now dead and over, and summer is gone with it. At least it does feel like Autumn here in Japan already. That was quick ! The good news is that the repo is bursting with activity these days and unless you were watching very closely what was happening, you have probably missed a couple of news… don’t worry, you can catch up everything here.
C4A Competition in September 2014
As indicated in my previous post about C4A, One Year Later, I intend to increase the activity around a couple of C4A-supported games every single month, in order to get more focused competition now and then. There will be weekly updates on PandoraLive, as well, to show you who’s leading the scores for each game so that you can decide to jump in and participate.

Ryan Gordon is a “God” in the Linux Gaming world. He used to work at Loki in the early 2000s, porting with other bright folks Windows AAA games for Linux way before Steam even existed. After Loki went bankrupt, he worked on many ports for the Humble Bundle and Steam, and has now become a renowned expert on how to do porting right. He gave an excellent interview very recently on the Linux Action Show, and it’s well worth watching.
