After upgrading to SZ 1.60 a couple of months back, I had the unfortunate experience to see OpenVPN had become unusable. Since I usually connect via VPN for most of the things I do online, this was certainly a disappointment, and I have since then assumed this was a firmware-related issue, asking Notaz for help. However, I have recently found that some settings actually fix the problems.

Linux Gaming: An Upward Trend
Several months back, I was contemplating the state of Linux Gaming and the platform and judging from several indicators, I thought there were many good signs to make 2014 another promising year. We are now at the end June, and it’s time to take a fresh look at the situation again.
Weekly Software News June 16th to 22nd 2014
We are back on the PandoraLive routine with our weekly Software News! There’s a bunch of updates this week, such as many improvements on Oolite, a new version of Eduke32 to play Duke Nukem 3D in the best conditions possible, and more… Nice to see Focus Writer making an entry in the new releases as well.
The Pandora at Pix & Tech 2014
During the last weekend of May took place the first edition of Pix & Tech, an exhibition with a broad appeal, in Nimes, in the southern part of France. And when I say broad, I mean it. They had several themes: Lord of the Geek (everything from board games to live action RPG, with Cosplay in the middle), Indie video games (with french creators on stage), e-Sport (competitions with prizes), Education (Universities dedicated to new technologies, graphics design and video games), e-Health (how to apply technology to be in better shape), Retrogaming, and Innovation (startups, Internet of things, etc…). And the Pandora was there, too.
Weekly Software News June 2nd to 15th 2014
Sorry for the long wait, due to the move of PandoraLive from one server to a newer one. Luckily, there were not too many updates in the past 2 weeks, so this is very practical for me to sum things up very quickly ! Thanks guys!
PandoraLive Server Move Is Complete!
Hey if you even see this post that means you can call yourself a DNS Transfer Survivor. The move to the new and shiny server is complete, and it went quite well while it took a little longer than expected…
Oolite: Elite Re-Invented, Open-Source style
oOlite was originally created by Giles Williams around 2005, as a response to the withdrawal of Elite: The New Kind (Elite: TNK), by Christian Pinder. oOlite is a free and open source 3D Space trading and combat simulator in the spirit of Elite. You begin as the Commander of a Cobra MKIII, with 100 Credits in your pocket. Setting out on a new life as a trader, bounty hunter, pirate, or haulier and passenger taxi, flying from planet to planet gaining fame (the rank of Elite) and fortune. The planets or Systems, are living entities that range from Rich Industrial, Corporate States, to the Poor Agricultural Anarchic Systems, each one bringing its own tapestry of law and lawlessness. Each system has, in the Vanilla option, one inhabited planet, with the orbiting Space station. Whereas with the addition of OXPs (extensions of oOlite) there are many different dockable objects that are added, from Casinos to Penal colonies.
PandoraLive Moving to New Server
Just a short notice as we will be moving to a new server probably on Sunday evening / Monday morning somewhere in the world. So you can expect some disconnection to occur at that time! The idea is that the new server should be more powerful and prevent the recent issues we have had with high traffic…
What You Guys Liked in May 2014
May is usually the time for Golden Week in Japan, and I took the advantage of having a few days break to go to Seoul in Korea, which ended giving me an idea for one article on PandoraLive. May is also the season for “Kodomo no Hi” in Japan where Boys are actually celebrated. They get to have these huge “KoiNobori” out there, i.e. colorful carps made of fabric that look like they are jumping out of the water. Very nice, and this is definitely the signal that summer is coming. And nobody likes Summer in Japan, because it’s too darn hot and humid.
Witcher 2: Porting Gone Wrong
Hey, another non-Pandora article! How do you like that? Well, this is however related to porting to Linux -which is not a subject new to this blog- and how commercial support can be seriously flawed when handled by large companies who have no prior experience with it. This happened with the Linux port of The Witcher 2 recently.
