The past week was relatively quiet, but it seems like the break was pretty short after all. While PtitSeb is still enjoying his vacation, things are still relatively under control at this point, but one can already feel a tremor shaking the ground. The signs are clear: there will be more updates coming up soon. And this week’s release of new apkenv and DraStic versions are already going to eat up the rest of your free time for a while.

Upgrades & Repairs: How To Do It Right
Since the Rebirth edition was released in early 2012, Askarus has helped EvilDragon (ED) in the DragonBox shop (official Pandora distributor) – mostly for repairs and upgrades, as well as anything else (playing games, web browsing, listening to music and all that kind of hard work). I asked him to tell us more about Upgrades and Repairs, since that’s the place to go for both of these, worldwide.
My Day With The Pandora (Lethco)
A lot of the recent “Day with Pandora” articles have focused on areas outside of gaming for the most part, with a bit of gaming here and there. I am the opposite, I got the Pandora primarily for gaming, but also wanted the freedom of a full Linux system if I wanted it. So, here is my typical day with the Pandora. Please note that my system is an original CC unit.
World of Goo Without Android
Apkenv, which came out earlier this year for the DragonBox competition (and won a prize), provided you with the opportunity to run Android games without using Android. However, the supported games were very limited, and we were all yearning for more. Well, the wait is over since two high profile Android games have now been added to the latest apkenv update.
New Owner? Check What Model You Really Have
A couple of weeks ago I saw several people on the forum, apparently new users, confused by the stickers or the lack of clear information regarding the model they purchased. Let’s be honest, there is a clear lack of a simple system tool to confirm that “hey, you have a CC Pandora” or something else. An interesting discussion followed on how to determine which model you actually have, and I packaged a small script in a PND a couple of days ago.
Weekly Software News – April 15 to 21
Peace at least! This is the first time in like 2 months that I can finally enjoy a much deserved break. Finally there weren’t a ton of updates and new releases during the week. I guess everyone was tired or playing games, or went on a trip somewhere at the same time. Anyway, it was relatively quiet, while you still get some obligatory updates. Let’s see this in more details.
My Day With The Pandora (Budweiser)
I have been into emulation for almost 15 years, I stumbled upon MAME while looking for a way to play Donkey Kong. I have been playing on a lot of consoles in my childhood and did not really have any interest in the new machines. I followed the GP2X, got one, and heard about the Pandora… and I am now a proud owner of one. This is my story.
The Deep Seeds of DraStic, DS Emulator
A couple of weeks ago, I felt the urge to know more about DraStic, the fantastic DS emulator we now have on Pandora (if you have not yet heard of it, you can catch up here and there). It’s not everyday that you get to see the birth of a new emulator, especially one as good as this one. I reached out to its author, Exophase, to learn more about his motivations, his way of working and emulators design in general.
Weekly Software News – April 8 to 14
I guess I’ll have to forget about ever spending quiet weekends. It’s useless. The Pandora scene is getting more active than ever, and on top of that it’s not only crapware the developers produce, but actually a lot of good stuff makes it in to the repo. So here’s a report of what happened in the last week, and if you missed a couple of days, well, you are out of luck since you will need time to catch up.
Dune Dynasty on Pandora: Awesome Nostalgia!
I don’t usually post right after something comes out. You know, there’s a lot of new stuff or updates every week and a busy man like myself has no time to check everything out. But today it’s a little big different. Yesterday Dune Dynasty was released by PtitSeb, and this is so good I had to talk about it. Yes, immediately.
